Happy Hump Day!

It's HUMP DAY! Time to get this camel loaded and finish off the week with a good productive project. Mine is purging - the church where I work is having a rummage sale in 2 weeks and I was able to go through my closets and donate 3 bags of clothes (I am a bit of a clothes horse)! Tonight I will go through my 'junk room' and see what needs to be purged in there as well.We live in a 1964 Blue Moon Trailer that has been somewhat converted into a trailer house - LOL. It does get crowded sometimes, especially with all of my crafting adventures!

And one of the areas that takes up the most is my Cricut obsession. I LOVE my Cricut. I have had several and have bought them all from eBay with great success. I never seem to have enough room to spread out! It's usually the dining room table and stays there for several days until I get my 'fix' and then I'm on to something else...

Here is a link to the top 40 great Cricut Blogs.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day Blessings to all today!

Barbecues, picnics, american flags waving proudly...this is the day we say 'Thanks' to all who have served our country and sacrificed so that we may have everyday freedoms. I beleive so many lose the specialness of this day and only look forward to a day off from work or school. I don't believe enough of our children and family and friends realize the true meaning behind the Memorial Day and celebrate what our American Veterans have endured just so we can 'have a day off'... anyway I proudly say thank you to our fallen soldiers and say thank you to their famlies for letting us have this day off to remember, acknowledge and honor those who have gone on.

TGIF

What a week - Thank Goodness It's Friday! Have put in my 3 days of working at my p-t time job and now the next 4 days will be dedicated at our shop, Quinlann Market Place. Lots to do there today as we are getting ready for a big sale on May 31st. It will be to celebrate our 1 year anniversary with a live band, food concessions, face painter, and local people coming to set up for the day like a mini-flea market. So we have a tons of spring cleaning to do in the store to get ready for this event!

I have a Freebie I found for you - a quickpage I snagged at Marie H Designs.
I love the colors, they all remind me of early summer flowers, fresh and vibrant. If you go to her home page, there are some blog links with lots of goodies to be had!

Blog Hop - Amazing Woman

Who loves Blog Hops? I do! Here is a link to a wonderful Blog Hop called Amazing Woman.
http://anitawdesigns.blogspot.com/

I love the rich, vibrant colors chosen and the title! Who has some Amazing Women they are sounded by? I have several, but there is no one more amazing than my Mom  and she loves the color yellow and butterflies. I immediately thought of her when I came across this Blog Hop.  I know it is late in the month and hopefully the downloads will not expire until June. So hop aboard for a great ride and lots of freebies - and as always don't forget to leave some love!

A quote to help me get through my day - Be Happy...
"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.  When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life." -John Lennon

Ramblings

It's a beautiful day here in North Texas, a bit windy, but non the less an overall  beautiful day in May! At work early and ready to get my day started. I work as a Parish Secretary and absolutely love it. I am so blessed to be around a great group of people.

I had been commuting to Dallas 3 days a week as a secretary for a non-profit ministry and was getting tired of driving 2.5 hours a day. Though I loved the work and ministry dearly, I was just spending too much time driving and with traffic to boot, I was exhausted when I returned home. Also having a young pre-teen boy at  home who needed my time and energy as well was really starting to play on my motherly heart strings. So I started looking in 2011 for something closer to home. Finally after 9 months of sending out endless resumes and reviewing job postings, I received a call for a Parish Secretary for an Episcopal Church 14 miles from my home. I was so excited and thought I had interviewed well, but they passed me over. So the search continued. And exactly 1 year later I received an email from the church asking if I was still looking for work! Of course I was  and  went through the process again  and started working May 22, 2012. The job is a perfect fit for me and them. It works wonderful with my commute, more family time and an overall feeling of being well balanced in my work and family life.

I now also have more time to do the things I love the most! Scrap booking, card making, cooking, etc.  and TIME with my family.

Speaking of,  here is a layout of my son and his first semi-serious mishap. He had been playing around with some kids waiting for after school bus runs, when one of the girls bent his pinky back. He said,  "That didn't  hurt" and she said, "Oh yeah, I bet this will" and proceeded to bend it all the way back! Needless to say, we got an apology letter from the girl and her parents. Kids will be kids!

Here is a cute FREEBIE from ***Ooh la la, Artsy! Not!*** by Heather T.  She has a a global 50% sale going on both at the Commercial Use store, and the Personal Use store.

This and That

A  layout I created of my sister and her partner. It took me a week to finish because I kept going back and changing it - I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, which is difficult for a scrapper! I think I kept going back to it because I wanted to make sure it reflected the relationship I see with in them and the strength and love that holds them together.  Overall I think it turned out well...

This blog thing

Finally - trying to figure this blog thing out! I have some working knowledge of html and have been able to find a template (that reflects my creative side) and get it to work!

I have always wanted start a blog, but things would always get in the way. I hope I can record a little bit of my everyday life and that people will enjoy it and be encouraged to do the same.

Now for some creative relief - here is a page I created this weekend. It is a wedding layout created to reflect the brides colors. They were recently married and it was a most joyous occasion as they have been promising to tie that  knot and finally made good on it.
